Kerry's new message: Does it even matter?

Kerry's credibility has been savaged over the last 3 months. First, he faced $90 million in "flip flopper" ads. Next, the Swift Boat Liars suggested that he had lied about his Vietnam service. Finally, the Republicans used their convention to trash Kerry at every opportunity.

All of this takes a toll. Will the American public respond to Kerry's new message (that Bush is out of touch with reality) or will they even bother to listen?

I like what Kerry is saying - but I'm not sure it will help him. People are voting against him because they hate his personality. Ratcheting up his attacks will not help his personality numbers.

There is little that Kerry can do at this point except not screw up and hope that external factors continue to help keep Bush's poll numbers down.

Or maybe I'm wrong.

The funny thing about this election is that it has been billed as "the most important election of our generation", but we're stuck with two unpopular candidates to choose from. People can't really visualize how a Kerry presidency would be different from 4 more years of Bush. For one thing, Bush has coopted all of Kerry's Iraq proposals. Secondly, Kerry hasn't done a good job presenting a stark contrast between himself and Mr. Bush. Maybe Kerry's new message will help voters understand that Kerry would take the country in a different direction.

The AP gets political!

This story takes both Bush and Kerry to task for misconstruing each other's words.

Fantasyland Part 2

Finally, an effective way to use Bush's stupidity against him!

"George Bush let Osama bin Laden escape at Tora Bora," Kerry said in a brief interview Wednesday. "George Bush retreated from Fallujah and other communities in Iraq which are now overrun with terrorists and threaten our troops. And George Bush said on the record we can't win the war on terror.

"And even today, he blundered again saying there are only a handful of terrorists in Iraq," Kerry said. "I think he's living in a make believe world."

He's clueless! Out of touch! In a make believe world! Not living in reality! Living in a world of his own spin!

Great stuff. Let's keep it up.

Fantasyland

I like Kerry's new line of attack:

George Bush is out of touch with reality. He thinks Iraq is going gloriously!

Juan Cole unleashes reality

Remember that thing called reality?

So, according to Bush, Iraq is "on the grand march to Democracy."

And "Freedom is spreading across the world like a sunrise."

These are clearly cowardly boldfaced lies.

Bush is a coward, and he's afraid to admit that his policies have led to utter failure in Iraq.

This guy is now easily the worst President in the history of America. There probably isn't a President who is even half as incompetent as Bush. His colossal stupidity aside, he's a liar and a thief. He stole 200 billion out of our treasury in order to screw up the middle east for generations! How much worse can you get?

I mean - Hoover let a few people starve to death. Grant was corrupt. Carter ran a botched hostage rescue mission. None of those things compare to Bush's monumental blunder in the Middle East. We'll be paying for this for a century.

The National Intelligence Estimate came out and said that the situation in Iraq is hopeless. At best, we can hope for a stable dictatorship with a 9-11 type explosion every month. At worst, a civil war that destroys the entire Middle East. Bush called the report "academic". I guess Bush snubs "academic" advice, and instead turns to his mechanic for foreign policy. Of course, "Kill those A-rabs!" isn't much of a foreign policy strategy.

I know some of you will read this and say, "What are you talking about? Iraq is on a grand march towards a thriving democracy!"

To those people, I say - stop this nonsense! Take leave of your fantasy land and join us here in reality. Get back to what you do best - blaming the media and the Left-wingers for sabotaging our troops in Iraq.

Invading Poland

Now that Iraq is self-destructing nicely, it's time to return to one of my favorite topic:

Stab in the back

We're starting to hear the same old excuses for our failures in Iraq: The Left-wing media is causing us to fail!

Please...sometimes I feel like Lewis Black when I listen to these right-wingers. It's a mixture of amusement, pity, and disgust.

CBS documents story

This story makes me tired when I think about it. Let's just sum things up nicely then move on:

1. Dan Rather is a Democrat.
2. Dan Rather has an ego that didn't allow him to concede a mistake until recently.
3. Dan Rather should not quit because journalists make mistakes.

Yawn.

Please - we have a disaster occuring in Iraq and the media is focusing on whether documents were forged? They didn't spend nearly as much time investigating who forged the Yellowcake documents...

I almost fell asleep writing this post. I'm THAT bored with this story.

Kerry will lose?

Last week I projected a Kerry loss, minus some sort of disaster in Iraq. I think we're heading in that direction.

Kerry has also begun to utter coherant phrases regarding Iraq. That's a positive sign as well.

Kerry has actually come up with a new parallel between Iraq and Vietnam! He's the man who helped lead us out of Vietnam, so he'll help lead us out of Iraq.

Novak

Novak's piece today is a must read. This is either a trial balloon sent out by the Bush administration or simply Novak making stuff up. He's a partisan hack, so I'd guess the former.

Depressed about the polls?

Check out Rasmussen Reports' daily poll. Their poll hardly ever fluctuates.
